The $100,000 Damon Runyon Stakes tops our Aqueduct picks Sunday. The nine-race card features plenty of healthy purses and decent-sized fields, perfect for making Aqueduct picks.
Aqueduct picks – Race 1, post time: 1:30 p.m. ET
Let’s start our Aqueduct picks Sunday with a nice price on an interesting angle.
Trainer Paul Barrow saddles #6 Von Aldenbruck (12-1) in the opener. Over the past five years, Barrow sports a very profitable $3.79 ROI (8 for 47) in this situation (second career start, maiden), according to DRF.

We’ll see if we can capitalize on that.
Race 4, post time: 3:01 p.m. ET
Franco also led all jockeys through that date at the meet with a 24 percent winning percentage.
That pair gets together in today’s fourth race at Aqueduct, a six-furlong claimer for New York-bred fillies and mares ages 4 and up, with #7 Archumybaby (7-2).
A change could do this horse good.
Race 7, post time: 4:31 p.m. ET
Franco will also be aboard the horse that tops our Aqueduct picks for Race 7, #4 High Amplitude (7-5), this time with Chad Brown as trainer.
The price won’t be much, but he owns a 90 and 89 Beyer Speed Figure at this distance in his last two races, respectively, at Aqueduct, so the horse has talent.
|#4 High Amplitude|
Of note, High Amplitude finished second to the favorite, #7 Scoreswhenhewants (2-1), last time out, who turned in a 91 Beyer in that race.
Race 8 – $100,000 Damon Runyan Stakes, post time 5:01 p.m. ET
Capping off my Sunday Aqueduct picks will be #4 Scilly Cay (7-2).
The cut back in distance should help Scilly Cay, as a mile last time out appeared to be too much.
|#4 Scilly Cay|
Scilly Cay won the Rego Park here at 6 1/2 furlongs. Seven furlongs should suit him better.
