NBA All-Star Weekend is underway in Chicago, so let’s take a look at some 2020 NBA All-Star Game predictions.
|Date||Sunday, Feb. 16|
|Time||8:10 p.m. ET|
|How to watch the NBA All-Star Game||TNT|
|NBA All-Star Game odds – points||Team LeBron -5|
|NBA All-Star Game odds – total points||300.5 over/under|
The NBA All-Star Game is under a new format this season, with new rule changes in an attempt to draw more interest in the exhibition contest.
Each of the first three quarters will last 12 minutes, with the score being reset to a 0-0 score each quarter.
The winning team of each one of these quarters will have money given to a Chicago-based charity of their choice.
Once the fourth quarter begins, the game will be untimed and both Team LeBron and Team Giannis will be playing to reach a Final Target Score.
In honor of the late Kobe Bryant, the final fourth quarter target score will be 24 points.
Here’s an example, if Team Giannis has 150 total points after three quarters and Team Lebron has total 140 points, then Team Giannis would need 24 points in the fourth quarter to win. Team LeBron would need 34 points before Team Giannis scores their 24 points.
This is going to make it more difficult to assess FanDuel’s 300.5 over/under since we haven’t seen this format in action before.
Let’s take a look at last year’s game to get a better idea of what the score could look like with our NBA All-Star Game predictions.
Team Giannis trailed Team LeBron to 132-131 through three quarters for a total of 263 total points.
If we get a similar game through three quarters, we would need 38 total points before Team LeBron reaches 24.
It’s confusing but it certainly seems doable, so let’s go with over 300.5 total points for our NBA All-Star Game predictions.
There is never any defense in this game until late in the fourth quarter and since there is no clock in the fourth, playing defense down the stretch will not impact our total score.
Makes sense? Good.
Let’s take a look at who could be the potential 2020 NBA All-Star Game MVP. NBA All-Star MVP odds are courtesy of PointsBet.

The game and the weekend itself is going to be one big tribute to Kobe Bryant, so it would not surprise me if James or Davis took home NBA All-Star Game MVP honors as current Lakers.
I could see James putting in an effort level not often seen in the NBA All-Star Game and dedicate his performance to Bryant.
Both James (three) and Davis (one) have taken home NBA All-Star Game MVP before and I could see either doing it again.
Davis (+450) is an interesting choice. In addition to being a Laker, he is also from Chicago where the game is being played.
With slightly more favorable odds, let’s pick James (+500) over Davis with our NBA All-Star Game predictions.
Picking the winner of the game is going to be the most challenging thing we discuss as effort level in this exhibition game is always a question.
Since we’re picking James to take home NBA All-Star Game MVP, let’s pick Team LeBron (-5) to win in Chicago.
I also like how Team LeBron has first-time NBA All-Stars like Booker, Tatum and Doncic. The first-timers are often trying to put up their best offensive performance on the national stage.
NBA All-Star Game predictions: Team LeBron (-5), over 300.5 total points, LeBron James to win NBA All-Star Game MVP (+500).
