New rules for the 2020 NBA All-Star Game should add some intrigue back into betting NBA All-Star Game odds.

The 2020 NBA All-Star Game odds currently have Team LeBron as a 6.5-point favorite over Team Giannis. Team LeBron is -215 on the moneyline, with Team Giannis +180.

The first of the two major rule changes is that each NBA All-Star team will now be competing to win each individual quarter for Chicago-based charities.

Each of the first three quarters will last 12 minutes and begin with a 0-0 score. However, the fourth quarter will be untimed, with teams playing until they reach the Final Score Target.

Perhaps the biggest change that will impact betting NBA All-Star odds is the new Final Target Score.

In honor of the late Kobe Bryant, the Final Target Score has been set at 24 points.

The way it works is that once the fourth quarter begins, the team with the highest cumulative score through three quarters will need to score 24 points in order to win the game.

For example, if Team LeBron has 100 points after three quarters and Team Giannis has 90 points after three quarters, Team LeBron would need to score 24 points in order to win. Team Giannis would need to score 34 points in the final quarter before Team LeBron scores their 24 points in order to be victorious.

Got all that?

As of right now, these new rules will only apply to this year’s NBA All-Star Game. In recent years, the game has become something of a bore. Perhaps this will be beneficial to betting on NBA All-Star Game odds.

The 69th NBA All-Star Game takes place Sunday, Feb. 16 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Team LeBron will be captained by LeBron James, with Giannis Antetokounmpo serving as captain for Team Giannis.
