Conor McGregor prop bets: Method of victory

If you think McGregor is going to win, a McGregor moneyline at -300 isn’t the best way to get the most bang for your buck.

Consider getting more out of your money with the method of victory Conor McGregor prop bets. McGregor is currently -200 to win by KO/TKO, +950 to win by points, and +3100 to win by submission.

In the 11 times McGregor has stepped inside the UFC octagon, he has zero wins by submission. That’s why this wager is such a longshot. I don’t think a small wager would be the worst idea, but I just don’t see it happening.

Just twice out of those 11 fights has a McGregor fight gone to the scorecard. At +950 to win via points, while I won’t be making this one of my Conor McGregor prop bets, I can see the logic in playing it. McGregor enters the fight dealing with ring rust, so it may take him a bit to get going. And with this fight taking place at 170 pound, Cerrone is naturally the bigger fighter. This also isn’t the McGregor of his prime, as his last first-round came back in 2015.

Cerrone also isn’t the kind of fighter who normally taps out. His only professional loss via submission occurred in 2010. With only three of his fights going to a decision, that probably also eliminates McGregor winning by points.

That’s how we land on McGregor by KO/TKO (-200) as the first of our UFC 246 picks.

Conor McGregor prop bets: What round will the fight end?

McGregor’s last four fights have gone past the first round, so we can likely eliminate Round 1 (+130). Rust and the larger opponent also make me skeptical of this wager.

Round 2 (+260) is my pick. I think that should be just enough time for McGregor to get reacclimated to the octagon and to inflict enough damage on a tough fighter in Cerrone.

There’s additional value in combining the two Conor McGregor prop bets we’ve mentioned. As a method & combo wager, you can bet Conor McGregor KO/KO & Round 2 (+390). Conor McGregor to win in Round 2 (+380) is essentially the same price without having to worry about his method of victory.

If you are a strong believer in this fight going more than one round, total rounds over 1.5 (-130) is something to consider. This wager is not a specific Conor McGregor prop bet and it does not require a specific method of victory.
