After working with a blank canvas last week, we at least have something to work with when making our Week 2 XFL picks.
In the first four XFL games, the favorites went 2-2 against the point spread with the underdogs winning two games outright.
The home teams went 3-1, while over bettors went 1-3.
Let’s see if we can use what we’ve learned in our Saturday XFL picks for Week 2.

Free Week 2 XFL picks against the spread – Guardians vs Defenders
|Date||Saturday, Feb. 15|
|Time||2 p.m. ET|
|How to watch||ABC|
|Guardians vs Defenders XFL odds – point spread||Defenders -7|
|Guardians vs Defenders – total points||47 over/under|
The Guardians’ 20-point win as underdogs over the Tampa Bay Vipers was tied for the largest margin of victory in Week 1. Meanwhile, the Defenders were perhaps the most visually impressive team to watch last weekend.
With a loud, sellout crowd cheering them on, the Defenders also have established a legitimate home field advantage.
After one week, Defenders quarterback Cardale Jones leads the XFL in quarterback rating (116.7) and ranks second in passing yards (235).
With all due respect to Matt McGloin and the rest of the Guardians offense, I don’t know if they have the offense to match Jones and company.
Even though the Guardians only allowed three points last week, they still surrendered a whopping 394 net yards to the Vipers. And the 23 points the Guardians scored were more a result of sloppy play from Tampa Bay. The Guardians themselves had just 44 rushing yards and 182 passing yards on the day.
The mindset of traditional scoring has to be thrown out the window when making your XFL picks. Despite the point spread being seven points here, extra points are not a given in this league.
As a lifelong Guardians fan, it pains me to say it, but give me the Defenders at home as the first of my Week 2 XFL picks.
Guardians vs Defenders predictions: Defenders -7
Free Week 2 XFL picks against the spread – Vipers vs Dragons
|Date||Saturday, Feb. 15|
|Time||5 p.m. ET|
|How to watch||FOX|
|Vipers vs Dragons XFL odds – point spread||Vipers -2|
|Vipers vs Dragons – total points||43 over/under|
Watching the Vipers last week, you couldn’t help but notice Tampa Bay couldn’t get out of their own way.
As a result, the Vipers lost outright as favorites and were left with more questions than answers.
The biggest question for the Vipers right now is at quarterback.
Vipers quarterback Aaron Murray had the lowest completion percentage of any starting quarterback in Week 1 and threw two interceptions. His 45.1 quarterback rating is also by far the lowest.
Look for hybrid quarterback/running back Quinton Flowers to see more action Saturday in that spot. Likewise, expect more carries for De’Veon Smith. Smith’s 79 rushing yards rank second in the young XFL season.
With a new game plan and more emphasis on the run, I think the Vipers can turn things around in Seattle. Give me Tampa Bay as the second of my Saturday XFL picks.
Vipers vs Dragons predictions: Vipers -2
